After a long conversation with a friend about the advantages of ubuntu and the Gnome desktop I’ll give it a try. So if I’m offline for the next few weeks, it’s because I couldn’t manage to install it properly… Thumbs up!

EDIT: Ubuntu is up and I finally managed to run Skype. I like the thin interface of Gnome and it’s working fine. The only thing

Added some programs:

• Audicious
• Some Webbrowsers (for testing only)
  • Epiphany Webbrowser for gnome (the one I keep)
  • Opera Webbrowser
  • VideoLan & some codecs

And with some help from Dirk and the FAQs at the German ubuntuusers site I solved the problem with some rights regarding my harddisk.
