Update/Upgrade to WP 2.1

Today I updated Cordobo and a couple of websites driven by WordPress with the new WordPress 2.1. #2 of the Anti-Christ-SPAM-PlugIn Akismet was updated as well.

An updated version of 0.92 Beta 11 is available at the themeviewer.

For those of you using 0.93 Beta 4, I’ve updated the sidebar.php

Download new sidebar for Cordobo Green Park 0.94 Beta 4
sidebar.txt

Rename to sidebar.php and place it in the themes rootfolder.

    und ??? .. taugt es was ?

  2. Cordobo wrote on 25 January, 2007 at 10:36 pm | #582

Ahh yes. Much better with the new sidebar.php. Thank you :-)

I have a problem with you theme 0.93 Beta 4 even after updated sidebar.php
Can you give it a look and tell me what’s the problem?

  5. Ricardo wrote on 27 January, 2007 at 12:55 pm | #587

    hi
why doesnt the cordobo theme display the weblog tagline?

is there a way of showing it?

  6. Cordobo wrote on 27 January, 2007 at 1:32 pm | #585

    @ Cucirca:

I couldn’t see any problem. Is your default category for the Links “Blogroll”?

    @ Ricardo:

If you use 0.93 Beta 4 you need to update the sidebar.php. Above is the link and the description.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

    Hi Ricardo,

I’m sorry, call me stupid, but I don’t know what you mean with “tagline” ;) The Blogroll? The only thing that I changed in the sidebar.php was the blogroll integration.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

  10. Ricardo wrote on 27 January, 2007 at 4:58 pm | #589

where it says “another wordpress blog” in the options menu we can set the weblog title and the tagline”another wordpress weblog”,

Hallo Andreas. Again thank you for fixing the sidebar so fast.
Is it possible to replace the Search field in the sidebar with Google’s Adsense Search?

    Thanks in advance

    /Dennis

  12. Cordobo wrote on 29 January, 2007 at 12:38 pm | #595

Yes, you can use the sidebar widgets to easiliy add or remove content in the sidebar.

  13. Ricardo wrote on 29 January, 2007 at 1:43 pm | #596

i guess that by your silence we cant se the tagline in your theme?

Maybe is only happening to me..

  15. Cordobo wrote on 29 January, 2007 at 10:31 pm | #593

    @ Ricardo:
;) I guess, I removed the tagline in favour of the “Home” etc. links under the title before I decided to release the theme to the public.

  16. Cordobo wrote on 29 January, 2007 at 10:38 pm | #592

    @ Cucirca:

Did you remove the background image?

  17. Dennis Bjørn Petersen wrote on 30 January, 2007 at 1:32 pm | #597

Thank you for your answer. How can I add an extra item to the sidebar widgets? Like Google Adsense Search?

  18. Cordobo wrote on 30 January, 2007 at 4:16 pm | #598

    @ Dennis:

You can do that by using a new text-box/text-widget.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

Do you think you could help me a bit more? Maybe some more detailed instructions? I don’t know anything about programming :-)
    Thank you

  20. Chris Osborne wrote on 1 February, 2007 at 3:00 pm | #599

Just so you know, the sidebar fix works with 0.9.2 Beta as well. I just didn’t feel like changing the theme since this older one worked perfectly well for me.

  21. Cordobo wrote on 1 February, 2007 at 6:45 pm | #601

    @ Dennis:

You need to download the WordPress Widgets here:
    http://automattic.com/code/widgets

Upload the unpacked folder to your plugins folder under /wp-content/plugins

Activate the Plugin in your adminspanel in wordpress under Plugins.

In “Presentation” you’ll find a new tab called “Sidebar Widgets”.

there you can choose all the content you want to have to appear on your sidebars (left and right navigation).

    Save it.

    You’re done ;)
    @ Chris:

Thanks for the feedback, I’ll put it into the description.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

WOOT that did it. Thank you very much.

Now a (hoefully) final thing. I was trying to get my blog approved at http://www.blogexplosion.com but I was denied because of the following reason: “Due to some problems with IE and CSS inside frames your blog was not readable. It looks scrambled.” According to several posts here http://forum.blogexplosion.com/showthread.php?t=3082 you have to resize some images. Is it an error in the theme or in my settings or…?

    Thank you again

    /Dennis

  23. Dennis Bjørn Petersen wrote on 2 February, 2007 at 9:25 am | #606

It seems the Latest Post can’t be seen in IE7. It takes quite some time for it to appear.

  24. JayMonster wrote on 3 February, 2007 at 4:40 am | #605

I had a similar problem. Under IE7 the latest post either wouldn’t be visible, or would be visible until the user moused over the comments link and then the entire section disappears.

(I have temporarily changed themes but could turn it back on if need be)

  25. Nick Makaryk wrote on 3 February, 2007 at 4:50 am | #604

How can this just happen? after installed cordobo-green-park-09-beta-09 for the 1st time.
Get error sidebar.php message and make new install sidebar.php but, still have this error.

Can you please look and tell me,
what this needs to work right.

    Thank you

  26. Keith wrote on 3 February, 2007 at 11:33 am | #607

    Hi,

I’m very impressed with the theme and am keen to use it on my blog.

However when I installed it for a test run I noticed that it didn’t format lists of links consistently - some appeared grey and underlined, some bold and green.

    Here’s a screen shot:

    http://f1fanatic.co.uk/test/cordobaproblem.jpg

Notice in particular the ‘top 50′ list.

I had one other problem. On the right hand sidebar above the ‘archives’ heading I have some kind of PHP error that reads:

Wordpress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near " at line 1]

These problems aside I think the theme is great and would like to use it on my site.

  27. Shann McNicholl wrote on 6 February, 2007 at 1:16 pm | #603

    Hi,

I have amended the colour scheme of this theme to Orange. Hope you don’t mind. I have also added a proper page template as I don’t believe pages should have comments. If the comments are left out of the default template then the footer bar is displayed incorrectly (inside the main content box) - in my testing at least.

All in all a very nice template! :-) Keep up the good work.

Also - please let me know what you think of my changes.

    http://blog.mcnicholl.com

I will make this available to anyone who wants it - of course (under the kind owners consent)

  28. Cordobo wrote on 6 February, 2007 at 3:06 pm | #608

    Shann,

have a look at the styles.css

The CSS, XHTML and design is released under the GPL:
    http://www.opensource.org/licenses/gpl-license.php

Now start modifying the theme the way you like it ;)

The theme has been released under the GPL, as long as you leave the credits to the author, you’re free to modify the theme the way you like it ;)
You should upgrade to the latest version of Green Park (0.93 Beta 4, not available at the themeviewer for some issues with the upload over there).

The latest version supports “color schemes”, with an orange style already included ;)

Maybe I’m really dense…but I just downloaded the latest version, and I don’t see any “Options” page or indicator to change the color scheme. Where specifically can I do this? Thanks so much.

  30. Keith wrote on 11 February, 2007 at 8:24 pm | #612

I’ve realised that the problem I described above concerning the links is due to the differences between ‘visited’ links and ‘non-visited’ links.

Would it cause problems with the theme if I edited the CSS to make the differences between ‘visited’ links and ‘non-visited’ links less noticeable?

  36. Adam Pope wrote on 20 February, 2007 at 10:24 am | #620

The ‘latest post’ disappearing in IE7 is something to do with the background image. There’s a howto on fixing it here:

    http://www.cayenne.co.uk/ie7/disappearing-content.html

Same thing happens for my ‘About’ page too. It’ll certainly need fixing before this beta goes final, but since Andreas does such a wonderful job I’m sure it’s in the pipeline.

    Hallo Andreas,

“Subscribe to comments with RSS or TrackBack to`Thema`

    Michael

  50. Cordobo wrote on 31 March, 2007 at 4:20 pm | #632

    Hallo Michael,

    Andreas

  51. Michael Karbacher wrote on 5 April, 2007 at 3:27 pm | #633

    Hi Andreas,

    Michael

What I’ve done is to add the attribute

Just love (!) your theme! It’s getting better and better and is sooo flexible!

I just keep getting the follwoing problem, which no other theme I have tried seems to have:

The NextGEN Galleries (plugin) are “misplayed”:
Just noticed that the Cordobo theme seems to be the only theme, in which only the slideshow is correctly displayed. All other options (album, gallery etc.) leave a huuuuuge space in pages and at the very bottom, finally, the gallery (or album) is displayed. Have tried various themes, they all work fine with the plugin, just wondering, what is causing this “misbehaviour”?

    Any ideas?

Hello, first of all this is a GREAT theme, I really love it, and am using it on my site now!

My question is this… Having little experience with CSS styles, I managed to customize the text colors on the theme somewhat to my liking.

If you take a look at my site however, you will notice that the “topics, recent posts, etc. etc. etc” links all remain grey…

I really would like to know how to edit those fonts to show up in a different color as I find the gray on gray very difficult to read.

Thank you in advance for the solution!

Can you help me determine why the single pages loose their formatting when using Cordobo Park, but the formatting re-appears when I revert back to the default WP theme?

For instance, bold, italic, underline all disappear when using Cordobo Park and viewing single pages.

in index.php, I had previously changed the_content() to the_excerpt(), which is when I first started noticing that the html tags were being stripped in my Pages.

When I changed it back to the_content(), the Pages appeared normally, but the main page reverted to showing full posts, not the excerpts. I want to display the_excerpts() on the main page, and the_content() on individual WP Pages.

    How should I proceed?

    Hi Andreas,
on Saturday we finished customizing your Cordobo Green Park theme to provide our blog with a new design. We have changed quite a few things but we really appreciate your brilliant work, as it served as the perfect starting point for olivetalks.

One error I did find in your theme, so you can correct it for future releases: In the comments.php file, in line 68, you open the divs:

    div class=”comments-nice-bg”

    div class=”comments-nice”

again for when there are no comments allowed, although they were already open at the beginning of the file. If these two lines are not removed, when a post/page has comments closed, the display of the page gets messed up and the footer appears inside your gray frame.

Hope you find this useful and you like what has your theme turned into in olivetalks.

    Best regards,
    LadyRostand

    @LadyRostand

Thanks for your feedback. I’ll fix it in the version of Cordobo Green Park I’m working on right now.

    Best regards,

    Andreas

I had to reinstall this theme and I lost some of my customizations and I can’t remember how to change them:(

    1. How do I get rid of the “latest.gif” on the newest post? (and is there any way to get rid of the gray background?)

    2. How do I change the color and the font for comments left by readers? I remember it was in a PHP file, but I can’t remember what to look for.

    Thanks in advance!

I really like your Wordpress theme and I have implemented it on my website.

I would like to add a banner jpg to the header. Could you tell me how to do this?

Has anyone using Green Park 0.93B4 updated to WordPress 2.5 yet? Is there anything that breaks or changes the theme? I have applied a few customizations to the theme, but they are all simple changes. Thanks in advance.

Hi - I love the cordobo green theme, I installed it on my wife’s Thai food blog. I have a question - how can I change the font size to make it larger for the pages links at the top? I’d love to increase them about 200% if possible. I’d really love to change their color too if that’s possible. I’m fairly good at jumping into code and making a fix - but scared to start playing around with things since my ISP caches pages here and sometimes changes I make aren’t seen until tomorrow! Makes it tough… life in Thailand! Everything else is easy - so I put up with it. Can someone help? MUCH appreciated! - Vern

    Tim,

I’m using GP 093B4 and upgraded to WP2.5 two weeks ago and had not had any issues. All the plugins I have active, about 20, still work fine.
Also, I just read Cordobo is working on a new version. That is just GREAT

Hey, I was wondering If you could help me setup a minimum width on the center (body) container. The body shrinks with the page which allows my videos to get shuffled below the sidebars.

I don’t know any php so I would appreciate any help you can give me. Email me anytime thanks!

    Hello,

Thanks for the great theme. I am using it on my site and I really like it. I have one question/issue though: When I insert a into a post it does not work on the published post. On the other hand, if I instead use , that does display in the post. Has anyone else had similar problems, or do you have any suggestions? Rather than a link that says “Page 1, 2″, I would rather have “More”, or “Click here to continue reading”.

    Thank you,

    Chris

    Hello,
Oops…when I posted my comment, some HTML examples that I included got processed and are not visible now….so I am reposting this to be clear.

Thanks for the great theme. I am using it on my site and I really like it. I have one question/issue though: When I insert a “More” command into a post it does not work on the published post. On the other hand, if I instead use “Next Page” command , that does display in the post. Has anyone else had similar problems, or do you have any suggestions? Rather than a link that says “Page 1, 2″, I would rather have “More”, or “Click here to continue reading”.

    Thank you,

Many of my users are having trouble accessing the comments. They click on a post headline and instead of being directed to the post page with comments, they are directed back to the main page. The same thing happens when they click on the “leave a comment” link. What should I do?
